My date with Sloane

My date with Sloane

She was one of the first women I swiped on and the first one who messaged me back. And she was my first date from an online dating app. This occurred to me as I was on the subway home, still texting her. Sloane said she was a crazy party girl, and she wasn’t kidding. She was also my entertainment for the ride home.

Our date almost didn’t happen. I had partied HARD with Maestro the day before and by evening I was still a hungover mess. But this was our second or third try for a date (we got snowed out one night and Sloane was hungover another) so I was determined to haul my sorry ass out for a few drinks. And the date went well for the first couple of hours! She had blonde curly hair, a quick wit, and told a great story. We both wanted to find out how exactly we ended up on a date with another woman after long-term relationships with men. And so we connected. The stories flowed better than the drinks. We covered men, open relationships, tattoos, sex, parties, more sex – all the intimate, meaningful stuff. And then I hit a wall. I ran face-first into the night before and couldn’t even think of finishing my drink or the delicious garlic fries without heaving at the table. Even though my brain was fully charged, turned on and excited, my body crumpled.

Sloane was very cool. Being a party girl herself, she knew that it was time to call it a night. So we took some mandatory selfies (she looked fantastic) and we wandered back to the train. And then continued the flirt on the ride home. It was so refreshing to hang out with someone new and be completely unedited. And feel like the other person isn’t judging you for being totally yourself.

So what’s next? Is there a second date? I’m hoping next week we’ll get together. And I won’t be hungover!
