Maestro’s solution to coyote arm

I was watching Rake the other day (great show, by the way, I totally recommend it) , and there was a hilarious scene with Cleaver, the title character, waking up in the morning with coyote arm. You know coyote arm – waking up in bed with your arm beneath someone you desperately wish you could move to quietly make your escape. It’s a pretty typical regret-sex scenario. You’re willing to chew off your own arm (like a coyote) just to get out of there. And it’s not just men who find themselves in this situation. I’ve had to carefully push a man aside in the morning to escape a drunken mistake. (Those escapades will find their way into the Young Marie short stories.)

Maestro was familiar with coyote arm. But his response to getting himself into that situation was just … so Maestro.

“I’ll fuck her again. You know, roll her over a bit so I can fuck her. So when she falls asleep again I won’t get stuck under her. And then I’ll leave.”

And that is why I love Maestro. The master of simplicity and fun.
