When the whip comes down

I listened to the entire Some Girls album for the first time in ages at Jolene’s a few weeks ago. It’s from a time when people listened to 10-13 songs together, as a whole, and not a collection of singles. I can get very nostalgic for the 1970s – basically my childhood. Some Girls reminds me of babysitting. This couple had a baby, but they partied hard. I remember tons of bottles and drinks strewn around the kitchen when they left (and yes, I’d sneak a few now and then … and sometimes I cleaned up a bit too), and he used to drive my home plastered. The baby mostly slept. I didn’t have to change any diapers, thankfully. But I remember the Some Girls album the most.

I totally forgot about this song though! And how appropriate it is now considering I like getting spanked and my spanking paddle tattoo (ooohhh … now there’s another post …!)  I always liked Just My Imagination, almost more than Beast of Burden. But it makes me wonder if even as a 13 year old, mesmerized by Debbie Harry (on the cover of my one of my other favourite albums – Parallel Lines), it was a bit of foreshadowing for my 50 year old self. Or I’m just full of shit.

Who knows. Maybe it’s just menopause and I’m being nostalgic. I need to write about sex again and get out of my head.
