My knight in a white Jetta
Knights in shining armor don’t always ride in on white horses to rescue damsels in distress. Sometime they drive through crowded mall parking lots in the rain to save a woman from Save-On Foods. So I got caught doing late afternoon grocery shopping while hungry. And I encountered the bulk chocolate bins first. Bad combination. I limited myself to a big bag of dark chocolate covered ginger to give me strength through produce and meat, but by the time I got to canned foods I’d lost it. Got really confused trying to figure out what kind of tomatoes I needed for chili, and the different sizes and prices hurt my brain. And that’s a dish I make often! I pulled out my phone to call Maestro for help, and that moment, I looked up and saw him walking down the aisle.
He gave me a kiss, and told me he’d finish shopping and make me a pizza when we returned home. Just like that, he solved my immediate problem (chili ingredients), then addressed the larger one (hunger) and took away my stress. And if this is a menopausal moment of confusion (likely), and there’s lots more of this to follow (also likely), then I’m so thankful for his patience. We’ll both need it!
Chivalry isn’t dead at all. It lives on in the small significant things that people do for those they love.
