A sex witch

Are you watching the series Sex Education? I just started watching it – I’m only 2 episodes in. But I loved the first episode. Loved it! I think Gillian Anderson plays the role of a sex therapist so well. (I’m used to seeing her as Agent Scully of course from back in the X-Files days.) I love her matter-of-fact demeanor, so calm and composed in navigating between teenage and adult sexuality angst and excitement. She also looks smoking hot and for me, is a great example of a middle-aged woman rocking a confident sexual attitude as a mother and professional.

My favourite line in the show came towards the end, when a smitten Adam talks to her son and refers to her as some sort of “sex witch”. It’s an interesting choice of words. For me it implies someone possessing magic, slightly dangerous perhaps, who will cast her sexual spells over you. She owns and embraces her sexuality. And for anxious horny teenagers (and adults), it’s irresistible. It’s the same message I’m promoting, really, that sex doesn’t need to fade away with middle-age. It can get better. Much, much better. And with knowledge and experience comes power.

Something tells me I’m going to be doing some binge-watching in between writing.
